Student Art Installation at the Aga Khan Museum: Finding Home: Personal Journeys and Visual Narratives

Between December 13, 2016 and January 29, 2017, a student art installation at the Aga Khan Museum illustrated the personal journeys of new Canadians through imaginative depictions of the meaning of “home.”

Developed in partnership with artist-educators Vanessa Barnett and Elena Soní, the Toronto District School Board, and the Aga Khan Museum, and supported by a grant from the Ontario Arts Council, “Finding Home” provided an opportunity for newly-arrived students and their peers to examine ideas of belonging through artistic expression.

In this video, watch as the students reflect on their experiences as newcomers to Canada, and the creative process behind each of their structures.
