This illustrated talk explores the manner in which Islamic Civilization appropriated the Greek scientific tradition and reformed it by adding, at times, completely new scientific disciplines in order to meet the needs of the requirements of Islamic religious ideas and practices.
This lecture is part of the ‘Inspired by Signs Lecture Series’ and is co-presented by Aga Khan Council for Canada, Aga Khan Museum and Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies.
