Greek storyteller Aesop served up the 5th century BCE fable as a reminder that slow and steady triumphs — it’s just one example of how arts taps into the animal world in an attempt to teach and reflect upon humanity.Now there’s a unique opportunity to discover the story of the Simurgh (a mythical, rainbow-feathered bird) or that tale of the shape-shifting army of divs (demons) with the new exhibition Marvellous Creatures: Animals in Islamic Art, which recently opened at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto.
