“It is not always clear how people will perform in a completely new environment and with a radically new remit but the 2014 J&J secondees have surpassed all our expectations.
Applying the skills of some of J&J’s top-performers in the context of strengthening nursing associations and creating new business models for baby care centres in East Africa, for example, has brought about fresh thinking and innovative solutions to what are considerable development challenges.
In both cases we now have new models to test or scale-up and potentially replicate elsewhere. The impact on the communities we jointly serve could be significant; an increase in the number of quality healthcare workers motivated to work in Uganda, for example, or greater access to baby care centres for severely disadvantaged children in Nairobi.
In 2015, we are very excited about diversifying the program in East Africa, expanding to new geographies, and together developing new approaches toward improving quality of life and opportunity in the developing world.”
