What if you had a physical disability that changed how you access the world around you?
By Mike Morrison for Metro Calgary. December 10, 2015: A few weeks ago I met a Calgarian named Nabeel Ramji. He wanted to talk to me about an initiative called, “Accessibility for All Albertans” which is a project he’s working on to get more accessibility for those with disabilities here in Calgary.

I was happy to meet him, but I didn’t really know what there was to talk about. Given that Calgary is seemingly such a new city, I’d assumed many accessibility issues were taken care of.
Well, we all know what happens when you assume something.
Over coffee, Nabeel talked to me about the countless barriers he and people like him face in Calgary every single day. Nabeel lives with cerebral palsy and spends most of his days in a wheelchair. We spoke about the lack of awareness about barrier-free design among building inspectors, architects and the general public.
