Azhar grew up in India, and had many interactions with the Aga Khan Foundation through health and education services. Azhar is running the 2015 TCS New York Marathon as a way to demonstrate his gratitude for the work of the Aga Khan Foundation. By joining the AKF Run Team, he hopes to share the work of the Foundation with friends and family, as well as support the work
THE STORY:
The Aga Khan Foundation has played a huge role in my life journey. Growing up in India, my family got healthcare from a doctor’s office subsidised by the AKF. My little brother studied in a school that was funded by AKF. I owe much of my life’s comforts today to the helping hand my family got when we needed it the most. Whatever money I raise will not pay back for what AKF has done for me but every mile I run will be in gratitude for what I’ve received.
Somewhere in an impoverished country, there’s another kid like me yearning for a helping hand – I hope you’ll join me in supporting the organization that will get him or her the opportunity they deserve.
