The foundation has a limited lifespan and will end its grantmaking in 2021.

Aga Khan Foundation was established in 1967 to provide sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and ill-health in poor and marginalised regions. AKF India was established in 1978, and promotes economic and social development.

The overall goal is to improve opportunities and life choices for young people in Hyderabad’s old city through access to quality secondary education and employment opportunities.
