The US’s first educational and fun exhibit for families exploring the diversity of Muslim cultures.
In February, after five years of research and planning, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) will open America to Zanzibar: Muslim Cultures Near and Far, a groundbreaking new exhibit for families. America to Zanzibar will explore the beauty, diversity and unity of Muslim cultures around the world, from New York City to Zanzibar, and beyond. Visitors to the exhibit will be transported to over 50 locations around the world as they explore, touch, smell, listen, play and pretend. Children will be able to climb aboard an Indian Ocean Dhow Boat, listen to Joha the Jokester’s stories, play dress-up, “shop” in a souk, and so much more.
America to Zanzibar is part of CMOM’s vital mission to nurture the next generation of creative and culturally literate global citizens. The exhibit will expose families to new worlds, promote meaningful cross-cultural exchange and understanding, and have a positive impact on how the next generation of Americans interacts with Muslims both at home and globally.
