Raahina Malik, a high school student, has been selected to perform cancer research at the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
This summer, only eleven high school junior students nationally and internationally were accepted into this prestigious six week research program at the Winship Cancer Institute. This program is called the Winship Summer Scholars Research Program (SSRP), in which student scholars are paired with mentor research scientists and clinical oncologists who guide them through intensive 6 week research projects, the results of which will be presented at a final symposium in July, 2015.
Raahina has ranked first as valedictorian of her 10th and 11th grade classes while taking rigorous courses and participating in a variety of extracurricular activities and voluntary work. She is entering her senior year this fall at Fayette County High School in Atlanta South.
