Natasha Jiwa-Walji ran in London Marathon to raise funds for Tenovus Cancer Care

Friday, 26 April 2015: Natasha Jiwa-Walji, an 18-year-old student from Pembrokeshire, took part in this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon in aid of Tenovus Cancer Care. Up until recently, Natasha (pictured) had never run long distance and went from casually taking part in sports that she enjoyed to running the London Marathon. Natasha lost her mum to cancer in August last year and ran in her memory.

“I applied for my marathon place when my mum wasn’t very well and I told her that if I got the place, I’d run. Mum passed away last summer and then I got my place. I promised her I would do it so I’m running in her memory for Tenovus Cancer Care.” Mhairi Wotherspoon, manager of events at Tenovus Cancer Care, said the charity was proud of Natasha and was behind her every step of the way.

“We’re delighted to have Natasha running as part of ‘Team Tenovus Cancer Care’ this year. Taking part is really important to her and it’s going to be an emotional day for Natasha, running in memory of her mum. She’s been so courageous and dedicated to her training and fundraising. We really hope to see people getting behind her and supporting her. She deserves it!”
