A total 130 inmates at Kodiaga Women’s Prison and 10 children yesterday got free medical care from the Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu.
The women were sensitised on good hygiene and family planning.
They received treatments for malaria, skin infections, wound dressings and immunisation for children less than five years old.
The vice chairperson National Nurses Association of Kenya-Kisumu branch Happiness Anditi said they are celebrating International Nurses Week from May 5 to 15 .
She said they visited the prison as one way to give back to the society and because women and children are more vulnerable.
