The Harvard Business School’s 17th annual Africa Business Conference was held in Boston from February 27 to March 1, 2015. The theme of the conference was Investment in Early Childhood Education.The conference addressed how African countries can compete globally when almost 90% of its human capital is denied the opportunity to develop their full potential cognitively, emotionally, and socially. Why has early childhood education and its relevance been neglected for so long? How can African governments mobilize resources to increase access to quality early childhood education for African children?
Among the panelists were Sabrina Premji, co-founder and Chief Exploration Officer of Kidogo Early Years – a social enterprise that provides high-quality, affordable early childhood care and education in East Africa’s urban slums; and Shelina Walli, Faculty at the Aga Khan University’s Institute for Educational Development.
Shama Jamal, a Master of Education student at Harvard, was involved in the organization and logistics of this conference.
