An online poster designing competition was arranged by PIMA center on three themes: “Raise taxes on tobacco”, “Tobacco is a loss of health and moral” and “Tobacco user is a bad example to others.” Large number of doctors and medical students from all over the country participated in this competition. Judges included Prof Mukhtiar Zaman Afridi, Head of Pulmonology Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar; Prof Sohail Akhtar, department of Medicine, Ziauddin Unversity Karachi and current PIMA president; and Dr Saleem Ghauri, consultant dermatologist Faisalabad, and in charge of Media PIMA center. According to the decision of the jury, Dr. Arif Anwer Surani and Amna Shireen, both from Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi and Dr Muhammad Asad Diwan from Liaquat National Medical College have won the first prize in the above categories.
Dr. Arif Surani is a lecturer, basic medical sciences at Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry, Darul Sehat Hospital, Karachi.
