[IM]pressive! 2014 in Review – Ismailimail Trends & Big Data

2014 marked an epic year in the history of the Global Ismaili Jamat. Amongst many important events, the openings of the long awaited Ismaili Centre, Toronto and the Aga Khan Museum, captures the hearts and minds of all Ismailis, as did Mawlana Hazar Imam’s address to the Canadian Parliament earlier in the year.

It is in this context of the “museum” theme, In celebration of opening of the Aga Khan Museum that Ismailimail (IM) shares the 2014 summary – trends and big data, an IMpressive year for us all!

Ismailimail was viewed about 2 million times in 2014! That compares to approximately twice as many people as the ones that annually visit “The Castle” at the Smithsonian Institution Building, (one of the 11 in a series of the 19 museums and galleries at the National Mall in Washington D.C that make up the  Smithsonian Institution).

2 million is also the number of artworks owned by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Consider this comparison – the Louvre Museum, in Paris has 8.5 million visitors per year. Ismailimail was viewed over 9 million times since it’s launch.

The greatest number of views in a single day was on the occasion of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s address to the Canadian Parliament – we had 40,370 views on February 27th, 2014. That’s as many people as would fit in 70 jumbo jets.
