Excerpt: Today’s architects can put beauty and functionality together, and that makes for a more engaging urban environment, according to Bill Birdsell, president of the Ontario Association of Architects.
“Good” architecture interacts with the street outside and promotes a sense of community inside, Birdsell says. Cities full of this “good” stuff attract young people who want to live in an “exciting environment,” he says. “Ottawa’s starting to get into that.”
