Monday morning was the first time in a long while that Farouk Velji’s sister didn’t stop by his home to wake him up.

Despite being married and living with her husband, Fahmida Velji-Visram visited the home where her younger brother and parents live every morning.

“She would be the first face I would see in the morning,” said Velji, 25.

“I’d have to see my sister every day or I couldn’t function.”

But Velji now has to learn to function without his beloved older sister, whose life was taken tragically Sunday evening.
