FORT BEND COUNTY, TX (KTRK) — A man and woman are dead and their children hospitalized after a tragic shooting inside a Fort Bend County home.

We’ve learned the mother and father who were killed were small business owners in Fort Bend County. Friends and family say the husband owned a convenience store and the woman owned a day care, both in Rosenberg.

They were discovered shot to death inside their New Territory home at about 6:20am Monday. Investigators say one suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Their 15-year-old daughter, though shot, was able to call 911. Her 11-year-old brother was shot as well.

Detectives can’t or won’t say yet what led up to the rampage or which adult was the shooter.

We spoke briefly with friends of the family from the Ismaili Center in Sugar Land where they worshipped. They never had a clue anything might be wrong.

“No, never! Never,” said Nimet Lakhani. “They were such a happy family.”

Mumtaz Wadhwani said, “Just felt like I needed to go and see what’s going on. Worried about the kids.”
