Gamechanger: Interview with Karim Farishta

Gamechanger: Interview with Karim FarishtaExpress yourself in a way that others can understand you. Sounds difficult, doesn’t it? You are you, and nobody can understand you better than yourself. So how do you make people see you for who you truly are?

“Passion,” says Karim Farishta, a senior at Clements High School Global Studies Academy.

People may not share what you are passionate about, but they share that feeling of passion that transcends all other doubts, all other uncertainty. People will tell you what to wear, what to eat, even what to feel. But they can’t take your passion away from you. Your passion is so entwined within you that it will always be a part of you, even when you don’t want it to be.

And Farishta too had a passion.

Moreover, he had an idea. Unlike most people, he acted on it. He changed the world, at least a little part of it. Farishta with the help of many produced the inaugural 2013 Global Issues Summit for Clements High School. The Global Issues Summit was held to raise awareness of global concerns among students and inform the community about measures that are being taken to address and alleviate certain global issues including malnutrition, discrimination, child soldiers, illiteracy, and more.

Farishta was awarded the 2013 Princeton Prize in Race Relations for his work in human rights; the award is dedicated to advancing positive race relations in communities.
