Forum hosted by Ismaili Centre Dubai: Opportunity through Leadership, Entrepreneurship and EthicsThe role of leadership in implementing ethical business models that demonstrate benefits to all stakeholders was echoed by speakers at a knowledge forum in Dubai on Saturday.

The UAE is the best example of leadership, entrepreneurship and ethics, according to the forum participants. Titled: ‘Opportunity through leadership, entrepreneurship and ethics’ the forum was hosted by Ismaili Centre Dubai.

The panelists and audience engaged in dialogue on the current and future importance of growing business within the framework of sustainable business development. The forum reemphasised the significance of businesses being able to exhibit how they manage their financial, social and environmental risks, obligations and opportunities both from an idealistic and practical standpoint. The audience included senior diplomats, business leaders, professionals, heads of NGOs, and academics.

In his welcome address, the president of the Ismaili community for the UAE, Amirudin Thanawalla, said: “The concept behind today’s dialogue is critical to tomorrow’s future and the importance of incorporating the people and planet as well as profit in planning for business, what many refer to as the triple bottom line is a trend that’s growing.”

The keynote speakers at the event included Apparel Group chairman Nilesh Ved and Sultan Ali Allana, chairman of Habib Bank Ltd and director of Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED).
