Glenview Ismaili Center to display Aga Khan Musuem's first outreach programvia http://www.journal-topics.com – Glenview-based Ismaili Jamatkhana, a Muslim community center near Golf and Shermer roads, will be the first host to an exhibit next month ahead of the opening of a museum in Canada connected to the group’s spiritual leader.

The Aga Khan is the Ismaili faith’s spiritual and organizational leader. The Aga Khan museum is preparing to open in Ontario next year. The Ismaili faith is an offshoot of Shia Islam.

A traveling exhibition from the Aga Khan Museum is called “Enlightened Encounters”. It will be on display at the Glenview Jamatkhana from Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 20.

The Friday, Oct. 4 opening reception will have religious paintings and a 13th Century text on display called “Nasir’s Ethics” authored by Persian writer Nasir al-Din al-Tusi in what is present day Iran discussing community life.

The event will also feature a lecture on the museum, a choral performance by the Enlightened Encounters Choral Project and an arts and crafts family workshop.
