Ahmedabad, India: Ismaili families get entrepreneurship lessons

via timesofindia – AHMEDABAD: The Aga Khan Economic Planning Board has partnered with Ahmedabad-based NGO, ICECD for providing entrepreneurship expertise towards the Aga Khan Ismaili Community in India.

A training programme was held at ICECD recently where a group of 20 trainers working voluntarily for the Ismaili community from Agakhan Economic Planning Board represented various regions of India like Diu, Nagpur, Yavatmal, Pune, Mumbai, Nizamabad, Junagadh and Amreli. This community is presently engaged in agriculture activity, small businesses likes garment or grocery.

The objective of this programme was to build requisite skills of the trainers for counselling 1,700 Ismaili families in India during next three years in strengthening their livelihood and business activities and enhance their income by helping them to grow and diversify by building their entrepreneurial capabilities.

Participants presented their plan of action during the concluding session, explaining how they will replicate ICECD model. Hina Shah, founder-director, ICECD, said, “These trainers will develop more hands in different regions of India by building their entrepreneurial capabilities. I have full confidence in the potential of Ismaili community and since all participants are now well equipped with new knowledge and skills, they will definitely create new history.”
