Gala Chair Nancey Nanji helps fundraise $745,000 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation

Gala Chair Nancey Nanji helps fundraise $745,000 for the Heart & Stroke FoundationNancey Nanji chaired the ninth-annual Heart & Stroke Foundation gala in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s B.C. Ballroom recently. Presented by Goldcorp, the event sensibly kept its Heart of Gold name. The ballroom’s glittering decor warranted that moniker, too, as did the reported take: $745,000. While fewer attendees wore golden attire this year, former chair Carey Smith compensated with one of Montreal-born designer Alan Anderson’s chandelier-like auriferous neckpieces.

Showing how charity-gala teams often develop, Smith recruited successor Nanji, whom she’d met four years ago when their respective husbands, David and Noordin, were executives at Ballard Power Systems here.
