Calgarians collectively raised more than $1 million to combat global poverty on Sunday.
The 29th annual World Partnership Walk drew more than 3,500 participants and 400 volunteers — including Calgary Flames players and politicians — to Prince’s Island park.
Proceeds of the walk support the Aga Khan Foundation, a non-profit development agency working in Asia and Africa.
“It is heartening to see the local community of Calgary make this cause so dear to them, convener Lux Lakhu said in a news release. “And today’s success is all because of our Calgary community.”
