Here are some photos of the jamat khane. It’s a beautiful affair built in 1967 (foundation stone in 1966). It was taken away during the time of Idi Amin and restored to the Ismaili community in the 1990s. The local muslim community had been using the facility themselves, eventually shifting their prayers to a newly constructed mosque adjacent. The two communities pray side by side on a daily basis now. The total community now is only about 30; in the early 70s it numbered in the hundreds. A constant influx of immigrants is matched by the efflux; some back to their home countries, others to larger cities and, the “lucky ones” to Canada, America or Europe.
