Organizers say more than 100,000 people walked around Lake Elizabeth Saturday in an effort to end global poverty during the annual San Francisco Partnership Walk. The event, held in Fremont for the fourth year, is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. to raise awareness and funds that reduce poverty, hunger, illiteracy and poor health in Africa and Asia.
This year’s walk raised more than $200,000, with 100 percent of the funds to be used to projects supported by the Aga Khan Foundation. Event spokesperson Kausar Mohammed said not a cent is spent on administration.
