Uganda’s Bujagali Hydro power project will be commissioned today.The official opening of the 250-megawatt power plant on River Nile will be graced by President Yoweri Museveni on Monday afternoon.
Museveni will officially launch the Bujagali project on the eve of Uganda’s golden jubilee celebrations slated for tomorrow October 9.
At least five heads of State who are in the country independence celebrations have been invited to attend the official opening.
The $900m project project is the first power project run by a private firm.The project was established through a public-private partnership model between the Government, a consortium of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) and US Blackstone affiliates.
