Memphis Mayor A C Wharton is to give the keynote address Saturday at a fundraiser dinner to fight poverty in Africa and Asia.
The PartnershipsInAction Dinner, sponsored by Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A., is part of a 1995 initiative to end hunger, illiteracy and health problems in impoverished countries that has raised more than $48 million. PartnershipsInAction officials expect to raise $200,000 more in The Peabody Grand Ballroom.
Miami Heat basketball player Mike Miller also will speak, and Pakistani singer Amanat Ali will perform.
