TORONTO, September 11, 2012 – Senator Don Meredith awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal to 17 outstanding Canadians from Southwestern and Central Ontario. The ceremony was held at the Moss Park Armoury in downtown Toronto.
Recipients included some of Ontario’s brightest and most dedicated entrepreneurs, legal professionals, and civic and community leaders. The recipients, which reflected the ethnic diversity of Canada’s most multicultural province, represented the First Nations, Francophone, African Canadian, and Asian communities.
His Worship Justice Karim Premji has been part of Toastmasters in Richmond Hill, Markham & Toronto for the past 8 years. He has been in International Development and service to the Ismaili Muslim community of Richmond Hill and the GTA, for the past 30 years. He has also served in local community-based volunteer projects with the Toronto Olympic Bid 2008, Special Olympics, Toronto Youth Games, North York Winter Carnival, York Central Hospital Women’s Day, MS Walk, etc. Karim Premji was last appointed Justice of the Peace for the Toronto Region in the Ontario Court of Justice in 2010.
