Audio Interview with Dr Faqir Muhammad Hunzai, for Radio Pakistan (In Urdu)

Faquir Muhammad Hunzai undertook his post-graduate studies at Karachi University, where he studied Philosophy, Arabic and Persian languages and literatures, and at McGill University, Montreal, Canada where he obtained a PhD in Islamic Studies. As part of his thesis requirements he translated for the first time into the English language a work, al-Risala al-Durriyya, of the famous Fatimid thinker, Hamid al-Din Kirmani. Formerly a Lecturer in Arabic and Persian at Government College, Gilgit, Pakistan, he is at present a Research Associate at The Institute of Ismaili Studies.

His publications include The Shimmering Light: An Anthology of Ismaili Poetry (London, 1996) and a new edition and English translation of the Gushayish wa Rahayish printed as Knowledge and Liberation (London, 1998), as well as contributions to the Encyclopaedia Iranica and other publications. He has also translated more than 50 works from Urdu and Burushaski into English. Presently he is working on translations of Wajh-i Din and the Diwan of Nasir Khusraw.
