As the annual Horizons Al-Ummah residential program begins this week in Canada, Raheem Dilgir of Vancouver releases his song “One Community” to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the program. He originally wrote the song after being a participant back in 1989.
In the song, Raheem recalls Al-Ummah as a unique experience in Islamic living – about learning to live and work with each other every day in peace, brotherhood and unity – the cornerstones of Islam. Raheem comments: “I dedicate this song to the Al-Ummah founders, directors and counsellors who have created this unique experience and worked hard for all the participants over the past 30 years, and helped us to better understand our identity. I hope this song will bring back some good memories for everyone involved!”
