CBC: Thousands participate in Aga Khan Foundation's walk - Toronto

Thousands of people are walking along downtown streets on Sunday, as part of an event that is raising money for development projects in impoverished communities in Africa and Asia.

The World Partnership Walk is an event that began in Vancouver in 1985, raising more than $70 million for international development programs and initiatives in the years since.

The walk is an Aga Khan Foundation Canada initiative and raised more than $7 million in 2011. Organizers are hoping to exceed that figure this year.

The CBC’s Ivy Cuervo reports that some 7,000 people registered to take part in this year’s event in Toronto.
