Singapore: Aga Khan calls on President, PM

The Aga Khan, Imam of the Shia Ismaili community, is in Singapore on a working visit. He called on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana yesterday.

During his four-day visit, which ends tomorrow, he will be hosted to lunch by Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim.

He is visiting Singapore after inaugurating the opening of an exhibition at the Islamic Arts Museum in Kuala Lumpur, titled Treasures of the Aga Khan Museum: Architecture in Islamic Arts.

This exhibition, which will also be held at the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore from July 19 to Oct 28, explores the artistic traditions of Islamic architecture through a showcase of artefacts and artwork from the Aga Khan Museum collection.
