Fatima Remtulla and Students on a service trip to Tanzania

Over March break 2012, twelve students will have the opportunity to travel with York School teachers to Tanzania. Over the course of their time in Tanzania, students will be immersed in a variety of life-changing experiences. They will experience African wildlife while on a camping safari visiting culturally significant sites by traveling with guides to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge, Mto Wa Mbu town, and Mayara Park. They will, perhaps more significantly, impact the lives of children looking to improve their lives while volunteering at the Amani Home for Children, a home for street youth in the village of Moshi.

Fatima Remtulla and Students on a service trip to Tanzania…I can’t even begin to tell you how fortunate and excited I am to be going on this service trip to Tanzania with the students that have volunteered to go. They are some of the best individuals I could have hoped to work with! Our adventure will take us to Moshi Tanzania (close to Arusha which is where my father was born) where we will be volunteering our time at the Amani Children’s Home. I can’t wait for this because I know my students will have the opportunity to work on various projects including helping to teach English to the Amani kids, run activities, experience a day in the life at an IB school in another part of the world as well as several work projects.
