On December 20, 2011 Rumina Velshi, a current WiN member, and former member of the WiN-Canada Board of Directors, was appointed a permanent member of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for a term of five years. Rumina will serve on the seven-member Commission Tribunal, which makes decisions on nuclear regulatory matters including the licensing of major nuclear facilities. “We are very proud of Rumina,” said Colleen Sidford, President of WiN-Canada. “Rumina is a great role model for all Women in Nuclear. On behalf of WiN-Canada we wish Rumina success in her new position.”In his announcement of the appointment, the Honorable Joe Oliver, Minister of Natural Resources stated, “I’m very pleased that Ms. Velshi has accepted this position. She has a wealth of experience in the nuclear industry and a distinguished record of professional leadership.”
