Two BC pharmacists and active members of the BC Pharmacy Association were recently recognized for their achievements at the Commitment to Care & Service Awards held in Toronto.
Rosemin Kassam, an associate professor in UBC’s faculty of pharmaceutical sciences, was also recognized at the Commitment to Care & Service Awards, as the recipient of the Lifetime Service Award.
In 1999, Kassam joined UBC as the school’s first director of the Structured Practice Education Program and has focused on creating innovative and impactful experiential learning opportunities for students. She developed a free online course in pharmaceutical care for students, preceptors and pharmacists and has published and presented her work to reach a broad audience.
Kassam is also having a global impact through her work in Bangladesh and Uganda and her volunteer efforts at local, regional, national and international levels are helping progressive models of education and care enter the mainstream.
