Aliya Lalani is putting her accounting education to good use these days tallying up her varied roles and achievements. In addition to accepting the position of student ambassador for the Certified General Accountants’ Association of Alberta (CGA), the fourth-year Management student recently competed to win second-place honours in “Alberta’s Next Top Accountant.”
Lalani expressed gratitude to friends and family for their encouragement. “I want to say thank you for all of your assistance and support. As second place winner, I was awarded with a $2,000 scholarship to the CGA Program [of Professional Studies].”
The competition, a joint initiative of CGA and Talisman Energy Inc., took the form of a social media contest where students submitted videos outlining why they were the right person for the job.
