Poem: Light upon light

The glory of knowledge and wisdom,
Light upon light, the heavens weep
When you rain light on the infinite kingdom
Gnosis is your gift, your secret we keep
Shine your face upon me, O Blessed One!
Let me prostrate with the stars below your august face!
There is so much light, o radiant sun!
You, the most perfect and holy of the human race!
Idriknyi, ya ali, idrikni!
In your gentle hand is the key to all,
Before your dhu al-fiqar I bow my knee,
Before your beauty, the stars tremble and fall.
Imam of the Age, I look up and down and every which way,
And all I can see is you, hailing the dawn of the new day.
