The neediest neighbourhood in Vancouver is getting a new library with housing attached for single mothers and children.
–snip–
Last week, city council approved $12 million for the construction of the two-storey, 12,000 square foot concrete library, with the expectation that the YWCA and its partners will raise the remaining $6.6 million for the four-storey wood frame housing above it.
Austin said the YWCA, which is overseeing the entire project, has already raised more than $3 million in cooperation with the Streetohome Foundation, Cause We Care Foundation and the Ismaili Muslim community of B.C.
