For the past 10 years Yasmin Mawani has been working at the York Region District School Board, serving the schools and parents in Markham and Unionville as a Settlement Worker, and as a member of the Community Resource Team. Yasmin’s community development background has enabled her to provide support to the parent community on issues of parenting, volunteer training, after school programs, etc., in addition to providing her with the knowledge and insight into the issues and challenges emerging from the community. During this time Yasmin has also worked closely with major partners and stakeholders (i.e. police, parks & recreation, public health, etc.) in York Region.
Yasmin’s passion to serve the community goes beyond her work at the School Board. She has served as a Board Member on Social Services Network, Kinark Child and Family Services, and is currently a Board Member of CAYRE – Community Alliance for York Region Education.
Yasmin would like to continue serving the community using a new and broader platform and is seeking nomination for Ontario PC in the riding of Markham/Unionville.
