Amir Somji appointed to Board of North Shore Community Foundation, North Vancouver, BC

Amir is a retired Chartered Certified Accountant who has called the North Shore home for the past 35 years. After having lived on three other continents, both as a student and a self-employed businessman, he and his wife Gulshirin moved the family to Canada in 1974. Amir’s varied financial background includes owning businesses abroad and senior management positions in the finance division of a large automobile insurance company. He was the Loaned Representative to the United Way of the Lower Mainland. During this time, he was also the Chair of the Employees Campaign. Amir is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK), Past President of the West Vancouver Tennis Club, and Past Chairman of the Community Employment Agency, an organization that helps new immigrants find employment that meets their education and skill set. Amir continues to stay active by playing tennis, and he and his wife are also avid bridge players.
