Art, literature, mathematics and science define civilisation. Our ability to examine the aspects of culture from a historical standpoint and determine the vibrancy of a civilisation are dependent in no small manner on looking at the mastery of the benchmarks of civilisation
Dr Francesca Leoni, PhD, is a delightful woman. In her capacity as the curator for the Arts of the Islamic World at the Museum of Fine Arts (Houston, Texas), she encounters numerous opportunities to introduce the world to one of the benchmarks of civilisation. This month, Dr Francesca travelled to the Dallas-Fort Worth region to present a lecture: ‘A Thousand Years of Feast and Lore: The Shahnama of Firdawsi’. Funded by His Highness Prince Aga Khan Shia Imami Ismaili Council for North Texas, the poetry came to life with the skilled stewardship and intellect of the presenter.
