This may sound an irreverent preamble to the latest exhibition at the Sabancı Museum, which is not about electronic geegaws well past their sell date, but the very finest craftsmanship of the Islamic world. It is called “Treasures of the Aga Khan Museum” and short of nipping off to Toronto in 2013, when that museum is scheduled to open, it is well worth the detour to see the objects now. There are wonderful things — like the illuminated pages of the fabled edition of the Shahnameh commissioned by Shah Tahmasp in the 16th century or a papier-mâché pen box from the Qajar dynasty brilliantly decorated in the 17th. However, this is really an exhibition of the presentation of the written word.
