Individuals from 32 communities throughout the province were recognized at the seventh-annual B.C. Community Achievement Awards ceremony held at Government House in Victoria.

Among those honoured, Coquitlam’s Sarina Mawji received an award.

Mawji was chosen for her dedication to making a difference for young people in the Tri-Cities, inspiring their participation in physical activity and community engagement.

Mawji co-ordinates a very effective drop-in centre for at-risk youth at the Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex.

She is also a director of the KidSport Tri-Cities committee and a past director of the Steve Nash Youth League.
