CO2 pipeline to cut through county
Project expected to have major environmental benefits
Excerpts:
The environmental benefits are expected to be huge for a planned CO2 pipeline through central Alberta.
Enhance Energy Inc. senior vice-president Farid Remtulla, in a presentation on the project to County of Wetaskiwin council April 6, told council by capturing the CO2 and injecting it into the ground, the project has the same environmental benefit as taking 330,000 cars off the road.
The plan is to expand the trunk line in the future to deliver CO2 to other oil fields that have been exhausted by traditional methods of oil recovery. At full capacity the pipeline is expected to have the same environmental impact as removing 2.6 million cars from the road.
