The Aga Khan Foundation has undertaken this project as part of its overall plans to give the whole Nizamuddin locality a massive facelift. The foundations extensive renovation work in the Humayun’s Tomb complex has been widely appreciated, as has the ongoing slew of projects to transform the Nizamuddin basti for the better. The idea behind the Sunder Nursery project is to recreate the native vegetation habitat of Delhi for the people—who can come here for fresh air, recreation, as well as for some first hand knowledge about the trees, plants and herbs and shrubs native to this region.
