Dr. Shafique Virani moderates University of Toronto, Mississauga, panel on how Muslims are represented in Canada’s media

Feb 25, 2010 – University of Toronto Mississauga students, faculty members and the public turned out last night for a lively discussion with Little Mosque On The Prairie creator Zarqa Nawaz and actor Zaib Shaikh, who stars as Imam Amaar Rashid on the hit CBC show.

Held in UTM’s Communication, Culture and Technology Building and moderated by Professor of Islamic Studies Dr. Shafique Virani, the two-hour discussion touched on the cultural themes of the hit TV show and how Muslims are represented in Canada’s media.
