Dr. Noorali Bharwani is a general surgeon and a former Regional Chief of Staff for the Palliser Health Region in southeastern Alberta. He is also a freelance writer and contributes columns on health, wellness and travel to newspapers in Canada.

Noorali was born and raised in Musoma, Tanzania, East Africa. He came to Canada in 1979. Noorali then became a Surgical Resident at the University of Alberta and was elected fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in 1984. In April, 1997 Noorali was appointed Regional Chief of Medical Staff for the Palliser Health Authority in Southeastern Alberta, Canada. He stayed in this position for close to four years. Noorali’s weekly column (What’s up doc?) has appeared in the Medicine Hat News since 1998.

Noorali and Sabiya Bharwani have offered three endowment scholarships for nursing students at the Medicine Hat College.
