Rotary Cultural Ambassador in Zanzibar

This morning I met with some great people at the Aga Khan Foundation, Aga Khan Microfinance Group, and the staff at one of their local projects called the NGO Resource Center. They’re starting a pretty cool 2-year youth development pilot program on the island. The plan is to recruit about 200 youth from the island to receive training in different aspects of the tourism industry, language training, communications and life skills, mentoring, and IT. After they complete the training they will be set up with 3-month internships and then can go on to work in one of the Aga Khan affiliates in tourism, or try to start a business of their own with help from the Aga Khan microfinance bank.
