The Ismaili Shiite community extends across the globe and the message of their guide, The Aga Khan, speaks beyond a categorized community : He speaks to humanity. South Asia can certainly seek lesson from the words of a leader whose community has seen both, storm and shine. In fact, The Aga Khan has contributed, and continues to contribute, to South Asia’s infrustucture by investing in various community projects that bring healthcare and education to the region.
I thus urge, all students at York to attend The Ismaili Students Association at York University’s screening of “An Islamic Conscience: The Aga Khan and the Ismailis” on April 30th, 2009. The film will begin at 7:00 p.m., followed by a talk by Film Maker/ Producer Shamir Allibhai, discussing his vision of the documentary, as well as a Q/A session.
