Kenya: Survivors of fuel tank tragedy recovering at KNH, Nairobi, Aga Khan and Mater Hospitals

The Kenyan government on Monday called in foreign doctors to help in the treatment of the survivors of the Saturday fuel tank tragedy at the Nairovbi-Eldoret highway that has so far claimed more than 100 lives.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga said the experts from India and the United States of America, who will be in country on Tuesday, will help in plastic surgery and other reconstructive operations on the patients covering in various hospitals in Nakuru, Molo and Nairobi.

Odinga also said the government would deliver enough foodstuffs to the patients who require special diets to help them with the recovery process.

“The foodstuffs will be distributed to KNH, Nairobi Hospital, Aga Khan and Mater hospital where the burned patients are recovering,” he said.

The east African nation has declared a week of national mourning in memory of those affected by the double tragedy.
